Photocatalytic interior projects
MACOMA’s interior project portfolio includes an application at Sunshine & Tailwinds Cafe inside North Las Vegas Airport in Nevada and at Nevada Partners. These photographs document interior spaces, ceiling installations and on-site monitoring.

Field documentation
Handheld meters were used to document conditions during the interior projects. Each photograph records a reading at a particular time and location; a before-and-after assessment requires matched measurements and the corresponding test conditions.
About MACOMA
MACOMA Environmental Technologies focuses on coating solutions for the built environment, combining reflective surfaces and photocatalytic technologies.
We work with building owners, project teams and commercial partners to explore applications for homes, workplaces and community facilities.
Discuss a project with MACOMAMACOMA in action

Your project
Send your location, surface type, approximate area and a few photographs.
Discuss surface preparation, product suitability and the conditions that affect performance.
Ask about product availability, application guidance and a quotation for your project.
Helpful information
A reflective roof can reduce solar heat absorption. The effect inside a building depends on roof construction, insulation, ventilation, weather and application quality. Request project-specific guidance rather than assuming a fixed temperature reduction.
Performance depends on the product, available light, surface exposure, airflow and the substances being evaluated. Ask for relevant technical information and application requirements for the intended use.
Contact MACOMA by email or WhatsApp. Include your project location, approximate area, surface material and photographs so our team can discuss the next step.

Urban Climate · 2026 · Volume 65 · Article 102795
Hashem Akbari · Concordia University
This study presents a simplified method for estimating the regional climate effect of increasing surface reflectance, or albedo, using solar radiation data. Higher-albedo roofs and pavements reflect more sunlight, helping reduce heat absorption and counter warming.
Calculations for approximately 4,400 weather stations indicate a worldwide median of about 2 kg of CO₂-equivalent climate effect per 0.01 increase in albedo over 1 m² of surface. Results vary with location and atmospheric conditions. This is a radiative-forcing equivalence, not physical removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere.

Using regional weather data and a Python implementation of Akbari’s methodology, this study estimates the CO₂-equivalent climate effect of increasing urban surface albedo in Mendoza and Posadas, Argentina; Campinas, Brazil; and Asunción, Paraguay.
Co-authorship: Ezekiel Martin is listed as a co-author, with an affiliation to the University of Nevada, Reno, USA.
MACOMA material analysis: The manuscript includes scanning electron microscopy images of MACOMA roof nano-coatings (Figure 6, page 10), illustrating the microstructure of a high-albedo roofing material.
Higher-reflectance roofs and urban surfaces reflect more sunlight, helping reduce heat absorption. The modeled climate effect can be expressed as a CO₂ equivalence and depends on local climate and the change in albedo. This equivalence does not mean the coating captures or removes CO₂ from the air. The manuscript presents albedo modification as complementary to reducing emissions.
